Who is Ernie Bunch?
Cave Creek Residents,
First and foremost, I am not a politician. A politician will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your support and that's not me.
I am a 67 year old man who was first elected to the Town Council in 2005 after being asked to run for Council by then Town Attorney Bill Farrell.
I met Bill in his official capacity when the Town took sides in a civil matter between myself and a neighbor because the neighbors father was a State Representative. I had 2 choices, one was to sue the Town (and prevail), or get involved to try and curtail ill advised actions like the one they took with me.
Prior to my involvement the Town had received a letter from the Risk Pool (Insurance) threatening to severely limit the Towns coverage. This was because some of the elected officials didn't understand the difference between a Town and an HOA and were making bad decisions regarding Property Rights issues. I know the difference and not everyone does. This is what prompted me to get involved then and driving me to seek re-election now.
I chose to move first from a subdivision in Glendale, to an acre in Phoenix, and finally my DR89 property in Cave Creek. I don't like being crowded, I like big views and appreciate open space.
I've been married for 40 years with 3 adult children (well adult most of the time).
I have worked for 46 years with family in a manufacturing business that makes and ships a product globally. The dynamics of a family business are very much like a Town Council. You try to keep the peace, collaborate on decision and not cause unnecessary waves, all while getting things done and moving a vision forward.
I am a lifetime outdoors man, hunting, fishing, photography, golf, scuba diving etc. and seem to be drawn to equipment intensive hobbies.
Because of my many interests I was never much of a volunteer until I got involved in the Local Government, first as a councilman from 2005-2017 and then as your Mayor from 2017 to present. I also serve as a Vice President on the Cave Creek Rodeo Days Board because of its importance to the heritage of our community. Little did I know the secret intent to move it to Buckeye...but that story is for another day.
Since there are ongoing projects that need to come to fruition, I am seeking another term to move forward important initiatives we've started over the past few years that can secure the future of Cave Creek.
I ask and would appreciate your support to allow me to continue to serve you.
Sincerely,
Mayor Ernie Bunch
